Episode 15: Engineering cancer drugs, Terraforming Mars, and the Science of Photography
In episode 15, Michael and Ty interview Ben Kremkow, a graduate student who works in Dr. Lee's Lab. Ben studies how to model antibodies used in cancer drugs and how they can be improved! The sugars that cells add onto therapeutic proteins can have a large impact on the efficacy of a drug, and by modeling the cells' behavior, we can learn how to engineer better medicines for the public.
In "Science News," Michael uncovers all the challenges humanity faces when trying to live on other planets, using our struggles with Mars as the example. In "Science in the Real World," Ty discusses the science behind photography.
